I made the mistake of waiting until the last minute to make Mother’s Day reservations. I called at least a half dozen places, just to be told they had been booked for weeks. I was panicking. Where would I be able to treat the two most important women in my life (Mom and Granny), to a delicious meal, just a few days before Mother’s Day? God heard my prayers! I received an email from Eddie Merlot, stating they were having an ALL YOU CAN EAT BRUNCH! I was so excited, I made reservations immediately. I’ve been wanting to try this place after hearing so many great reviews.

Our reservations were for 12:15pm. We arrived a little earlier and valet parked my car. I felt like royalty walking into Eddie Merlot. The ambiance was simply amazing. It was very inviting. We were seated in comfy low- sitting leather chairs, right by a window, so we could see the streets of downtown. I allowed my mom and granny to go to the line first, while I salivated at the thoughts of the amazing spread of food. When they returned I jumped up and headed to the main line. It was filled with frittata-style eggs, sausage, bacon, lyonnaise potatoes, meatloaf, cedar roasted salmon, chicken fingers, rice, sweet potato casserole, mac n' cheese, and green beans..the skinny long ones (I LOVE THOSE). Right behind that was the salad bar. It included a traditional Caesar, a Waldorf, a Chop House Salad as well as fruit, nuts and smoked salmon. Further back was a Make-Your-Own Omelet Station that of course had all the fixings. The Carving Station was housed in its own little separate corner and featured glazed ham and roasted tenderloin with creamy horseradish. The desserts were placed in the same room where we were sitting. They must have knew I was coming and made those accommodations… I absolutely love sweets.  Not only were there an array of brownies, cupcakes, and cookies, there was a gentleman preparing made to order Bananas Fosters!! This place was a foodie heaven.

After I piled my plate and eyeballed what I wanted my next plate to have on it, I took a seat to indulge in this magical deliciousness. Each bite was better than the last. The sweet potato casserole was out of this world (sorry Granny), the tenderloin was salacious and cooked at a perfect medium rare. The sausage, eggs and home fries were on point; a perfect meal within itself. The Chef's Signature Meatloaf was moist and well-seasoned. The salmon was a flawless pink hue and impeccably flaky. The mac n' cheese and rice harmonized well with all the meats. I loved everything! I decided to TRY to be a little healthy and made a salad…then I paired it with the delicious sea salt cupcake (to die for!)...wasn't too successful on the healthy part.

This feast was one of the best meals I've had. It was $40.00 per person and well worth it. Unfortunately, they only serve brunch twice a year; Easter Sunday and Mother’s Day. However, you can get the menu items year-round.  I am elated that I had the opportunity to try it and provide my mother and grandmother a wonderful experience. I will definitely visit again, for dinner, to try the steaks that they are so well known for.
